After becoming a disciple of Her Holiness GuruMaa, and adopting Sri Hanuman as my Ishta Dev, I have become a collector of books of Sri Hanuman. I have over 50 books on Sri Hanumanji, and yet not one of them had a complete collection of the mantras, bhajans, kirtans, puja and hawan vidhi. Now, we have the best book on Sri Hanumanji compiled by our GuruMaa. This is the only book which is a must-keep for all Hanuman devotees. It contains Sri Hanuman Stuti, Sri Hanuman Gayatri Mantra, Sri Guru Gayatri Mantra, Ek Mukhi Hanumat Kavacham, Sri Hanuman Chalisa, Sri Sankot Mochan Hanumastakh, Sri Bajrang Baan, Sri Hanuman Saathika, Sri Hanuman Sahastra Naamavali and Trikala Smaran. I have seen no other book which had the Kavacham and Saathika.
For the lovers of puja-havan mantra vidhi, this book has the complete puja-vidhi, Havan Vidhi along with the entire Sunderkand Path. Puja gives you nourishment for the soul. It has the listing of all the mantras necessary for a Puja. A Puja starts with ‘Aachmani’ when you sip the holy water three times to purify the vocal chords with the chanting of Om Bajrangaye Namah, Om Pavnaye Namah and Om Hanumate Namah. You then wash your hands, purify your body, light the lamp, purify the Asana and purify the vibrations coming from the ten directions. All important tasks start with the invocation of blessings from your Guru with the Guru Puja Mantras, and then after Kalash Puja, you invoke Lord Ganesha. Then, you invoke all the Devi-Devtas with SwastiVachan. You ring the bell to attract good spirits and drive away the evil spirits. After the puja of the conch (sankh), you do the Nav Graha Puja, which you end with the Nav Graha Shanti Path. After giving energy to the different parts of your body through ‘Ang Sparsh’, you recite the Swasti Vachan. Finally, you are ready to take ‘Sankalpa’ to do the Puja. After the Sankalpa, the main part of the Puja begins. Your perform Pran Prathistha, do Dhyana, welcome the Lord and offer Him a throne made of nine precious stones. You gently wash His feet, rinse His mouth and bathe Him with Water, Milk, Yoghurt, Ghee, Honey, Sugar and Panchamrut. Then, you offer Sindooe for Lord Hanumanji followed by cloth for His waist, Sacred Thread, cloth for His shoulders, Gandha, Rice, Tulsi, Perfume, Dhoop and the Deepak. Rice represents your mind, and lamp represents your soul. Now, you offer Him Bhog lovingly. Bhog becomes Prasad after Baba has had it. You offer Him drinking water, seasonal fruits, then wash His hands, rinse His mouth and offer Him Dakshina. After Niranjan, Pushpanjali and Namaskar, you perform the Aarti which unifies your individual soul with the Supreme Soul. The Puja is finally nearing completion when you request Him forgiveness for any mistakes you have made in performing the Puja or recitation of the Mantras. You perform Pradikshana (or circumbulation) and complete the Puja. This entire sequence of ‘Puja steps’ is beautifully laid out in this book.
Besides, on Page 102, this book contains important tips for the religious ceremonies. What kind of Asana should we have? Should have a red or black asana? Who can have an asana of tiger-skin or deer-skin? Did you know that if you sit on a seat made of stone for Puja, then you can get sick? What is Dvadash Tilak? What shape should be tilak? With what material? Where should you place the lamp of ghee? Oil? What direction should you sit down for the Puja? Your spouse should on which side? Left or right? What kind of flowers should be offered to which deity? How many Deepak should be on an Aarti lamp?
How should you do Japa? Mala? Why does a Japa Mala have 108 beads? How should you do Sadhna? What rules should you follow when you do Sadhna? The last paragraph in the book also explains the meaning of ‘Bharat’.
If your thirst for knowledge is not quenched, than this marvelous book also has a collection of twenty-nine soulful bhajans. My personal favorite, ‘Jaag Jiv Sumiran Kar Hari Ko, Bhor Bhayo Uth Bhai Re’ sets the tone for the rest of the bhajans. If you have heard GuruMaa sing, ‘Hari Ke Gun Gao Main’, then you want this bhajan to lead every Satsang program you have. ‘Prabhu More Avgun Chit na Dharo’ and ‘Mohe Laagi lagan Guru Charnan Ki’ are the other favorites from the Satsangs of Tuesday and Saturday at our Ashrams in NY and Lonavala. We have Pandit Jasrajji’s ‘Bharat Bhai Kapi Se Urin Hum Nahin’ and Rajendra Jain’s ‘Aaj Mangalvaar Hain’. We also have famous Bolywood Bhajans from yesteryear, ‘Aye Malik tere Bande Hum’, ‘Tu Pyaar Ka Saagar Hain’ and ‘Yeh Jindaji Usi Ki Hai Jo Kisi Ka Ho Gaya’
Last but not the least, we have the famous kirtan penned by GuruMaa Herself, ‘Ram Laxman Janki, Jai Bolo Hanuman Ki’ which is guaranteed to create amazing positive vibrations if you sing it with the same vigor as when GuruMaa leads it at our Ashram or on Her pilgrimages.
A limited quantity of this great book has been published and is available at the Ashram for a very small contribution. Please call now to book your copy before it is too late.
